`HOLE BY HOLE'
1st CENTENARY - Par 5. A downhill dogleg to the right, the lamp-post is your target, OB right
The small and narrow green runs away from you, all the trouble is long.
2nd WEE BRAE - Par 4. Elevated tee and severely uphill dogleg to the right. Do not go right as a
large stand of trees will block your next shot. Take one more club for your
second.
3rd THE BURN - Par 4. Number one shot hole all downhill. You must get to the bottom of the hill
for your next shot to an elevated difficult green. Par is a good score.
4th STRONG HOLD- Par 3. Uphill to a two tier green well protected by a deep bunker front right.
Deceptive in length, don't be short.
5th HIGHLANDER - Par 4. Straight away par 4, make sure your second is up as anything short will
come back at least 25m, green has a large false front.
6th DING-A-LING- Par 4. Downhill dogleg left, aim right of centre as fairway slopes right to left.
Fairway wood or long iron from the tee. Green is very receptive to well flighted
second.
7th MAGGIES'S ACES- Par 3. Two bunkers (one unseen) guard the entrance. Your tee shot should
be right of centre as the green slopes to the left. Hazard to the left of green.
8th THE DEVIL - Par 5. Short par 5 dogleg to the left, you need to get to the corner to have a
clear view of the green. Keep your second to the LH side of the fairway.
9th BY GUM- Par 3. Well bunkered and often affected by the prevailing SW breeze.
Long is dangerous- the green has subtle breaks.
10th KAURI- Par 5. A true 3 shotter to a very small green- make sure you are not left as the
`up and down' from this spot is difficult.
11th OLD SOAK- Par5. A big drive will give the chance to hit the large sloping green in two.
Beware the water in front can easily add one or more to your score.
12th PIP- Par3. Short iron to a two tier green, well bunkered. Trouble awaits those
who are long.
13th STARR'S LANDING- Par 5. Slight dogleg left; your tee shot should be centre as trees come
into play for those wayward. Make sure you are 'up' with your approach as
the green has a false front.
14th OLLIFF'S DIP - Par 4. Downhill with the tee shot needing to be slightly left of centre.
Difficult green to land on. Land your second shart as all the trouble is over
the green.
15th RUMBO- Par 4. Difficult drive through a shoot of trees, OB to the right. Second shot
is often blind. The big tree to the right of the green is a good target.
Long and left = wet.
16th THE ROAD HOLE- Par 3. Toughest par 3 on the course, OB all down the right small green.
Perfectly placed bunker front left. This hole has ruined many a good round.
17th OLD TIN SHED- Par 4. Easiest hole on the course. Driver-short iron-two putts-par!
18th TWO LOCHS- Par 4. Not long but gives its share of problems. Water hazards to the right
for the weak fade. Well bunkered large two tier green - if the pin is at the
back be wary of the two bunkers at the rear.
